Hi Tony,
When ammending the steel design properties under the 'Steel' tab, the loading page under the 'Loads' tab always pops up. Maybe this is because the beam size has changed and so the self weight, but after time, its going to wind me up! Can this not have to happen?

I've just checked this out here and cannot replicate it. You click on the Steel tab, change something (anything in particular?), press Apply and the dialog switches to the Load tab? Or I have misunderstood what you're reporting?

Yes that's what I meant.
I have just tried to replicate it and it would not do it:eek:.
But I tried again and made it flick over to the loadings. But now it won't.
I'll try to see what is needed to make it flip ove and let you know when I found out.

OK, I think I have found what triggers it. I sometimes get a message saying that the steel grade has changed to S355, a bit anoying but I've lived with it. And it is this that triggers the flicking over to loadings on this and later beams in the project.
I can almost remember a similar problem which was due to not selecting the steel section types to be displayed from the User Setup. (I have done so since then).
I dont know if it is all related but, if I start Prosteel, add beam and look at the steel design parameters I get a 48.3 CHS and only the check box for UB is checked. The reason I mention this is that when I get the message that the steel grade has changed to S355 the steel type changes to RHS though the UB box is checked. As long as you dont change anything on the steel parameters, When loads etc are entered into the loading page the steel section is upgraded but still using the RHS.
To get the steel grade change message, Start Prosteel, Add beam, (no self weight), Give the beam a title 'abc' to activate the Apply button, click the apply button and the message appears. Check the self weight option and From now on the load page flicks up if the beam changes due to the steel parameters changing (even if you change the steel grade back.)
I'm going to stop now before I get into a real muddle! Over to you!!
