Hi,
Do you plan to allow for bearing pads for steel beams in line as opposed to at right angles to the beam. For instance if you form and opening in a wall say 3m and the wall is 225 (9") solid brickwork. Then a pad 225mm x 'X'mm should be calculated. Is this something that can be done now or in the future

I'll bear the idea in mind. What you can do is to enter your dimension as the width, let the program calculate the length, then manually swap the two. If it's a bearing plate you'll need to change the thickness to 0 to get it recalculated.

Don't forget the enhancement factor will change and the stress pattern under the padstone may be triangular (so double the max stress!).

The file is called DemoThru.ps5. The location will depend on which version of Windows you are running and when you first installed the program. On an XP system this is most probably C:\Documents and Settings\Name\SDA\ProSteel 5 (Greentram instead of SDA on more recent installs.
