Hi, is there anyway you can split a project down easier than one beam at a time?

I have been sitting here at work and knocked out about 60 beams so far but the file is a bit unwieldy so wish to break it down to ground, first, roof etc

Any ideas? I do understand that each section would need to contain any relevant items that may have been "bought forward" in the loading stage.

Thanks

Rob

SuperBeam and ProSteel project files are plain text scripts. First make a copy of the file you want to split, then make two further copies which will end up as the two parts. If you load the file into Windows Notepad (or any other text editor) the structure will be self-evident. You need to retain the block of lines at the top and the ones at the end. Otherwise delete the unwanted item blocks - each starts with Item x ... and ends with {=== ... e.g.

Item 6=Steel beam: UC compact unrestrained
lz
l# [Unique ID]=1006
lj [location]=UC compact unrestrained
...
...
{================================================= =}

Once done, save and exit. Repeat for the other file. You don't need to worry about the item numbers - they will be reassigned when the project is next loaded and saved, however any B/F references below any cut items will give an error.

It is just possible to make a file unreadable, which is why I stress making a copy of the original file first.

Hi Tony

I have tried that and it all seems to work as long as all relevant items are in each split list. (as I mentioned before).

Rather than do it this way, (and possibly risk loss of data), would it be possible to incorporate single/multiple standard windows cut and paste (ctrl c, ctrl v) from the Project Manager list?
