Post supporting ridge beam

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I recieved a letter from building control with a point saying
'Post supporting ridge beam should be the same width as the beam. Please amend and provide the connection details at base and apex.Clarify if post is bearing on to the spine wall.'

I am using superbeam 4 and used a 100 x 100mm post to support 203 x 203 ridge beam. I have prosteel also but it does not have timber post. What type of connection detail does council engineer expect to see and can prosteel provide the post to beam connections::confused:

Apologies for not responding to your question - I have only just found that the part of the system that notifies me of new posts has not been working.

Personally I can see now reason for not accepting a post that is not as wide as the beam as long as it is strong enough. It may be that they want to have the connection between beam and post detailed so that there is no possibility of the beam end twisting relative to the post.

If you've resolved this in the meantime, please post your findings here as they may help other users.
