Hi users all

This is my first post after 3 years as Superbeam user and I have pretty daft problem.

Simply put I have lost a file. I started it 2 weeks ago and have opened and worked on it several times since. I tried to open it today and there is just no sign of itl!!. Murphy's law of course makes it the biggest I have done so far. There are only about 15 beams so I can't imagine it's an overload

I have checked the recycle bin and done a deep search for all s/beam files and all the others seem to be present and correct. I have even tried a system restore to back before opening the file.

Any thoughts anyone? I'm on version 56i.

Thanks

Steve Ladner

Apologies for not responding to your question - I have only just found that the part of the system that notifies me of new posts has not been working.

You probably sorted this out one way or the other, but if you can't find a file then Windows Search may be able to locate it. Also, if you've saved it more than once, there should be a backup file somewhere: this will have the same name as the original file with the first character of the extension replaced by a tilde, e.g. Demoloft.sbw is backed up as Demoloft.~bw.

Tony,

Thanks for thought. I had already tried the search on ".sbw" to no avail. Just tried the ".~bw", but no joy on the missing one! I guess this is gremlins 1 engineers 0.

I've just tried this out on my Windows 7 box - it looks as if by default it only searches the Users tree, so if you are storing files elsewhere you have to repeat the exercise having selected 'Computer' first. If in doubt search for a file you know is there to make sure it gets listed.

Tony

No dice. Only 1 user on this machine and all other ".sbw"s appear.
