Twin beams

Dear Tony

I have found that if you deselect from having a pair of beams and want only a single beam, the notes about bolting the beams together still appears in the notes section.

Section sizes

Dear Tony

I have had a number of jobs where builder cannot get a certain steel size and it seems that your list of sizes include those not commonly stocked and not on the Tata size list. Is it...

TR20

I notice that you have properties for trussed rafter strength grade TR26 but not for TR20. Why is this? Is TR20 used very little, but if so it would still be useful to have option to use it. I...

Re: Design of twin sections

To add to this discussion. I often find that with a pair of steels to support a cavity wall and other things there is often quite a heavier load on the one steel, eg if it is supporting roof and...

Re: Spread of point load in wall

I have always taken a 45 degree spread from a point load down the wall and thus if the load is 3.6 m up from the footing then it wil spread over a length of 7.2m (3.6 m each side). I would be...

Forum from website

Dear Tony

When you get onto the forum from superbeam or prosteel you are taken to the main opening or 'home' page, but from your website you are taken to the USA section rather then the main page.

I don't think the checking engineer knows what he is talking about. The idea of the ridge beam is to reduce the amount of lateral force/movement at the wall plate level by providing a...
