Default Glulam grade GL28c etc

Hi Tony,

i have just downloaded the new release of Superbeam and have found the following issues for GL28c, h, 28c, h....etc glulam beams:-

1. the grade stress appears to be C16 at 5.3N/mm^2 for all grades

2. the K15 modification factor stays at 1.39 irrespective of the number of laminations and hence depth.

This accounts for the very low permissible stress.

Can you please comment.

Many thanks Martin

I can confirm that this is a bug in 4.62e: if you select a GL grade in the edit dialog, this grade is shown on the title line but the calculation is carried out assuming C16 timber. If you save the project and reload it, the calculation is correct.

We will make a fixed release available over this weekend. Thanks for the heads up.

Tony,

just downloaded the latest superbeam, and i am sorry but the glulam still appears to use C16 grade timber and the mod factor k15 remains at 1.39 irrespective of beam depth. many thanks

Are you using an external timber data file? If so, the problem is that we added GLxx grades to the drop down list in the edit dialog without checking that they are in the data file (the internal default data, which most users would be using, was updated). This is fixed in release 4.62g, just released, which adds the GL grades to data read from an external file where necessary.
