I wonder if it is possible to add a subsection of 'add beam' where you would 'add a joist' and you could enter the spacing as an option and then the spacing would be in the specification of the member ie '150x47 C16 at 400 ccs' in the summary output. At the moment you just get the setion size and have to delve into the loading section to find the spacing assumed. John Cranna |

If I understand your idea correctly, you're proposing some sort of wizard that would fill out the calculation for a particular load case. My instinct - for better or worse - is against going down this route, as making the design process too easy may instill a false sense of security in people who do not really understand the load assessment process.
Won't putting in a suitable description for the member do what you are after, e.g. Front floor joists (400mm c/s) ?
