Tony Bryer's personal pages and selected links
- How I got started in computing - It all
started with a little ad in the London Evening Standard!
- Twickenham history: I lived in Twickenham for my first 55 years and was
part of the Twickenham United Reformed Church (formerly Twickenham
Congregational Church) from the age of six. Over many years I researched the
church's history, culminating in the publication of Chapel Next the
Green in 1982. Much of the material in the book relating to the earlier
history of the church, with later research is now on the church website.
- Working as a volunteer with Habitat for
Humanity: How I helped build two houses for families in housing need and
how a 16-year old selling shoes in Hounslow Co-op is now, 40+ years later,
back behind the till at Habitat ReStore
- Photographic memories - memories of taking pictures in the days before digital cameras.
- Hymn and History [PDF 250K]: A
series of 13 evening services led by Tony Bryer at Twickenham United
Reformed Church between 2004 and 2007 which trace the history of the church
through 2,000 years, each part being accompanied by hymns of the period
being looked at. Most of the information on hymns authors, and composers
comes from the Companion to Rejoice and Sing and Wikipedia.
- My best photos on Flickr - mainly of
Melbourne.
- AROnline When I emigrated I
brought very little with me, just some souvenirs, my DVD collection and 500
books (I got rid - with huge reluctance - of another 500 before leaving).
Among them is a nice collection of books relating to the cars of my
childhood - not exotica, but down to earth family cars, the products of BMC,
Ford, Rootes and GM. AROnline has a wealth of information relating to the
great days of BMC and its subsequent sad decline.
